KYOSA membership exceeds 2,500 representing 483 entities, agencies and organizations!

KYOSA presents 7 Regional Science Exploratorium professional development trainings

Kentucky School-Age Quality Framework Adopted and Endorsed by Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Division of Child Care

Development and Release of the Kentucky School-Age Quality Framework which includes:

  • School-Age Program Standards
  • School-Age Core Competencies for Child/Youth Development Staff and Out-of-School Time Program Directors
  • School-Age Credential (Proposed)
  • School-Age Trainer/Training Information Resource
  • School-Age Regulation Recommendations
  • School-Age Accreditation and Quality Rating Systems Review

Over 596 out-of-school time providers joined ranks to build and develop the Kentucky School-Age Quality Framework

KYOSA brings together stakeholders for a Kentucky STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Initiative to support out-of-school time programs and Kentucky's children and youth

The Kentucky Department of Education, 21st Century Community Learning Centers and KYOSA collaborate with the Kentucky School-Age Child Care Coallition to present the Annual School-Age Spring Insitute

Representative Hal Rogers signs on to the Afterschool-for-All Caucus after Congressional visits by KYOSA volunteers

2,371 Kentuckians have signed the Afterschool for All Resolution

Alliance membership skyrockets as 1,000 new members join!

Hall of Fame Award Ceremony attendance exceeds 200

Work begins of the Kentucky School-Age Quality Framework including the development of 7 new workgroups with specific focus areas:

  • School-Age Credential workgroup
  • School-Age Standards workgroup
  • School-Age Reguation Recommendations workgroup (Eastern Kentucky)
  • School-Age Reguation Recommendations workgroup (Western Kentucky)
  • School-Age Staff Core Competencies workgroup
  • School-Age Professional Development and Training workgroup
  • School-Age Accreditation and Quality Rating Systems workgroup

 KYOSA Policy and Advocacy drafts and develops the Afterschool for All Resolution to raise awareness of the importance of out-of-school time programs for Kentucky's children/youth

Development of Out-of-School Time Passport- an identification and safety kit that helps to increase parent awareness of what to look for in a quality out-of-school time program.

Senator Jim Bunning signed on to the Afterschool-for-All Caucus after 17 children and youth attended Congressional visits during the Afterschool for All Challenge

Worked with Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear to support the Kentucky Dropout Prevention Summit

KYOSA Governance Structure is established which includes:

  • Executive Committee
  • Strategic Planning Committee
  • Five Standing Committees (Quality & Training, Policy & Advocacy, Marketing & Public Relations, Sustainability, Evaluation & Research)

12 adults and 11 children/youth attend the Afterschool for All Caucus and signed on Kentucky's first Afterschool for All Caucus members, Rep. Ben Chandler and Rep. Ed Whitfield

 

2007

Grant is awarded by C.S. Mott Foundation for the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance

Visionary leader, Linda Robinson, builds the initial grant proposal by bringing together 40 initial stakeholders to submit a grant to the C.S. Mott Foundation.
